February Gratitudes
February Gratitudes: An Ode to Friends
Ode to Friends
I am thankful for my friends
In all their many forms.
Young friends, old friends
Friends who haven’t yet been born.
I appreciate the Sunday morning coffees
And the times we grab a lunch.
Close friends who manage to appear
When things are in a crunch.
I am grateful for my friends
who are far away.
And the tech that keeps us connected
In the day to day.
And then there are my fur-friends
Napping on my desk,
Purring and ‘a shedding
As they take their rest.
Can’t forget the derpy rescue dog
sitting at my feet,
Making sure I get my walks
Before the day’s complete.
Of each and everyone one of them
I cannot say enough,
For they have stood beside me
When times have gotten tough.
And in the days we’ve yet to see,
In the ups and downs,
I’ll be grateful for my friends
And the ties by which we’re bound.
Appreciation of one’s friends means that they are not taken for granted.
Thanks for sharing this lovely reminder about the power of friendship in its many forms!
Lovely, thanks for lifting our spirits in this difficult time. Yes, friends are so special. I write [snail mail… cause we can… and she hates technology] to a lady that became my friend in ’62. Yeah, that’s a long, Long, LONG time for a friendship. We each have a shredder so we can vent all we want knowing it can’t be held against us. It is liberating to see a vent shred like so much trash. We are a ‘black-hole’ for each other. Information goes in but doesn’t come out. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely. Yes, in this pandemic friends are a link to sanity in our isolation. But I do look forward to a time when I can see smiles and give/receive hugs.
