Set for Spring 2017

Random Bits of Fascination Posted on March 28, 2017 by Maria GraceAugust 24, 2019

I feel a bit like a Regency romance heroine–a weekend of doing nothing but dancing and flirting with my Mr. Darcy. That in a nutshell was the Set for Spring weekend this year.   Perhaps I should pause a moment and explain. My Mr. Darcy and I belong to our local traditional dance society. Each spring our region has an event called Set for Spring, a whole weekend of nothing but dancing, hosted in a different … Continue reading →

If you Give a Teen a Classic…

Random Bits of Fascination Posted on January 24, 2017 by Maria GraceJanuary 22, 2018

If you give a teen a Jane Austen classic book… they will be dying to know more! If you give a teen (or a group of them) a Jane Austen classic book, they will be dying to know more. And if they are dying to know more, they will find a Janeite to tell them more. And if a Janeite tells them more, they will suggest watching Jane Austen movies with the Janeite. And when … Continue reading →

A fresh coat of paint and a zombie inspired photo shoot!

Random Bits of Fascination Posted on January 7, 2017 by Maria GraceJanuary 31, 2025

How better to start the new year than to slap a new coat of paint on the website and have a zombie inspired photo shoot? Granted, I’m a little odd by any standard, but I like to start off the New Year by cleaning and freshening up something. This year I might have taken it a little farther than might be considered normal. It started innocuously enough, really it did. Website updates. The really needed … Continue reading →

Celebrating Jane Austen’s birthday today with ribbon roses…

Random Bits of Fascination Posted on December 16, 2016 by Maria GraceJanuary 31, 2025

Celebrate Jane Austen’s birthday with me! I thought I’d share something out of the archives today: an old-fashioned craft, similar to something she herself might have done to trim her own garments or accessories–Ribbon Roses.       Recently had the pleasure of doing these at a bridal shower we hosted for my future daughter-in-law. I got to teach  the ladies how to fold the roses and we spent a lovely afternoon chatting and crafting our roses. Even better, they … Continue reading →

Sharing the Love of Austen

Random Bits of Fascination Posted on December 5, 2016 by Maria GraceJanuary 31, 2025

My favorite opportunity for sharing the love of Austen so far. In the past five years  I’ve been writing, I’ve had a lot of really wonderful ‘Austen-adventures.‘ I’ve met a lot of wonderful friends. Traveled, attended conferences, spoken, costumed and learned to dance. Even better, my wonderful, if more-than-just-slightly-crazy, family has come along for the ride with me. Not even kicking and screaming mind you, but all in for the fun of it. This week, … Continue reading →
