Reason #90 Why writing takes so long

Random Bits of Fascination Posted on December 29, 2018 by Maria GraceNovember 4, 2026

#90 Out of control Christmas decorations        Writers are a distractible lot by nature. Between flighty muses and wild, vorpal plot bunnies rampaging about, it is difficult to focus on keeping hands on keyboards, parked in our chairs. The holiday season makes that even more difficult–not that it should be a surprise to anyone to hear that. That is especially true when said writer likes to decorate. I try very hard not to … Continue reading →

Morning Glories and Gratitudes

Random Bits of Fascination Posted on November 6, 2018 by Maria GraceNovember 4, 2026

Taking a little time for gratitude. Looking  for the blessings, even in yard work. I confess, while I enjoy being outside and need regular doses of sunlight like a little plant, I am not much of a gardener. I might dabble a bit here and there, but heavy duty yard and garden work, well, let’s just say that it isn’t my happy place. And yet it must be done. Check out the side bar for a free copy of  “Lady Catherine’s Cat”     On the whole, writers aren’t known for being a superstitious lot. Not like professional athletes who, according to some, have the market cornered on superstitious behaviors. No, we writers are normal, well grounded people. I heard that–that resounding snort and huff that came about … Continue reading →

Cupcakes with dinner

Random Bits of Fascination Posted on October 16, 2018 by Maria GraceNovember 4, 2026

Sometimes dinner doesn’t go exactly according to plan. I believe that sharing a meal with someone is one of the best ways to get to know them. So periodically, we invite folks from church that we don’t know very well over for dinner, just for the chance to get acquainted. A little like a Regency era dinner party. Generally, it has been really fun and we’ve enjoyed getting to know people that we otherwise wouldn’t … Continue reading →

Time for Something Completely Different

Random Bits of Fascination Posted on October 13, 2018 by Maria GraceNovember 4, 2026

Every now and again it’s time for something completely different. So yeah, I know this won’t surprise you, but every now and again I venture out of the Regency era and wander about in some very different territory.  I’m so excited to be able to share with you some of  the fruits of that process! For your approval, I present:Putting the Science in Fiction This  nonfiction book based on Dan Kobolt’s Science in Sci-fi blog … Continue reading →
