Book News and Reviews-April 2023
Whatis better than pile of books and a bowl of chocolate? Let’s talk about what we’ve been reading and feeding our inner chocoholics.
While it goes without saying, I like to read books about dragons, it also should not be surprising that I prefer those which are a bit off the beaten path shall we say. The fire-breathing, maiden-devouring variety of dragon is something of a low-hanging fruit, and I’d rather find something much less common. So this month I’d like to offer a couple of dragon books that have fit that bill pretty well.
Just so you know, links below are Amazon associate links, so if you buy anything through them, I will get a couple of pennies from that.
Temptation of Dragons
When I was asked by a dragon to give him the last rites, I never dreamed it would lead to negotiating with his cannibalistic family or running from snail sharks. Life as the priest of a small English village is quite tame in comparison. At least I have Morey, a gryphon with sarcasm management issues, to help me. And if all else fails, there’s always red wine and single malt whisky.
A friend pointed this book out to me, and I simply could not pass up the premise. It opens with a female priest in a small English Village finding herself in need of giving last rites to a dying dragon. Tell me what is not to love about that?
The author builds a fascinating, complex world of creatures familiar, and not, and the challenge of trying to live with one foot in the mundane and one in the fantastical. I loved it, and passed it on to my hubs who also enjoyed it so much, he’s collecting the series.
The Dragon Question
The Dragon King is dying, all for want of an answer.
The Dragon King has been asking questions of girls for decades, but now he’s out of questions, still without his answer, and out of time.
Researcher Shennon Trelor, a girl with a penchant for libraries, and a lover of a good research rabbit hole whenever she can find one is a heroine after my own heart. In tis Beauty and the Beast tale, she must sort out both the question and the answer in order to save the dragon.
Fun and relaxing, this one’s great for grabbing your favorite beverage, putting your feet up, and trying to solve the puzzle.
