Twelfth Night History A’la Carte — 2 Comments

  1. How delightful. Some of those extracts made me shudder. I do not think I would enjoy them at all. The cake with the crown was a nice touch but the one with the swans was a complete masterpiece. Wow! How beautiful. I don’t think I’ve seen one so beautiful. I wouldn’t want to cut it. Thanks for sharing these articles, extracts and posts. They were very informative and I am so glad I live in this era and not back then. Whew! Happy New Year in the manner in which you celebrate. Blessings on all your hard work.

  2. Wishing you and yours a lovely and joyous Twelfth Day (and Twelfth Night) of Christmastide and a wonderful Epiphanytide! 😀

When our grown kids were little, we used to give them their big family gift on Epiphany. One year it was an Xbox, another an air hockey table, another a boxed set of the Star Wars DVDs, etc. And practically speaking, it was terrific to take advantage of the After Christmas sales to obtain said family gift…at a very good price!! 😉

I love celebrating all Twelve Days of Christmas; my personal favorite is Boxing Day when we stay in our PJs all day. enjoy our gifts, munch on stocking treats and leftover ham for sandwiches, and laze around all day. Such a relief after the craziness of Christmas Day!! The whole week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day is focused on just hanging out as a family, including playing cards and board games, etc.

Plus, there is no post-holiday let down since Christmas is just beginning, after all!! We take down the Christmas decorations on the day after Epiphany…in theory. This year we got them up so late that one of our sons is demanding a delayed removal of all Christmas-ness. We shall see….

    Warmly,
    Susanne 🙂
