Books and Chocolate Jan 2026

Ruby and I are back again with more from the recently read pile. I confess, I just went through the unread books on my kindle and I have several years’ worth of unread books tucked away on the shelves there. I’m not sure if that’s shocking or delightful, really. On the one hand, it’s insurance that I’m not going to run out of things to read anytime soon. On the other, it hints that I’m dreadfully behind in my reading!
Better go catch up!
If you haven’t pick out your first reads of the year, I think you’ll enjoy this one.

Magic Bites
Kate Daniels is a down-on-her-luck mercenary who makes her living cleaning up magical problems. But when Kate’s guardian is murdered, her quest for justice draws her into a power struggle between two strong factions within Atlanta’s magic circles. Pressured by both sides to find the killer, Kate realizes she’s way out of her league—but she wouldn’t want it any other way…
I enjoyed getting to know the heroine in this one, and figuring out the magic system in this reimagining of Atlanta. Definitely interested in the sequels!
