Books and Chocolate-May 2025

Well, it looks like Ruby, the bookwrym is here to stay. So she’s going to be having her share of the conversation as we chat about some of the books I’ve been reading.
-Ah, you me WE have been reading. You make it sound as thought I have nothing useful to add to the conversation. And I am not sure I appreciate it.-Ruby
Of course, I mean we have been reading. Today’s book is one whose genre I would not usually pick out, but gave them a try on the basis of a recommendation.
–Oh, you are the risk taker aren’t you?-Ruby
That doesn’t sound like a compliment, you know. Are you suggesting that I am not generally considered a risk taker?
–I suppose that is something you will have to decide for yourself. Don’t dither about with that now, though, get on with the books-
In that case…
Just so you know, links below are Amazon associate links, so if you buy anything through them, I will get a couple of pennies from that.
Time Tourist Outfitters
Wilda Firestone survives off black coffee and white-hot sarcasm. And despite the colorful slew of characters filing through her time tourism costume shop, the retired First Nations Temporal Agent thought her days of hopping through centuries were over. That is, until a dying explorer crashes into her store, unleashing a plague that sends countless travelers to an early doom…
I’ll be honest. Time travel breaks my brain.
-I’m not sure I’d admit to such a thing out loud-Ruby
Well, I just have and I’ll live with the consequences. In any case, I generally avoid this genre because I keep getting hung up with logical issues that give me a headache. That being said, there was something about the snappy, midlife heroine that just rang through for me and I decided to give it a go.
-And you are asking for applause for that?-
Have you had your coffee and chocolate today Ruby? You’re sounding alot like the main character.
-So that’s what you liked about the book? It was like settling down with an old friend.-
That would be one way of thinking about it. She certainly was good company to while away a few hours with. And I think I’m not the only one who might feel that way. If you decide to give it a try, let me know what you think.
