Books and Chocolate~August 2024
What more does a girl need than a pile of books and a bowl of chocolate? Let’s talk about what we’ve been reading and feeding our inner chocoholics.
Books are a great retreat when things seem a little blue. Here are a couple that I found fit the bill when I needed a hopeful escape for a bit.
Just so you know, links below are Amazon associate links, so if you buy anything through them, I will get a couple of pennies from that.
Butter Sugar Magic
Embracing a midlife transformation has never been more delicious.
At best, she’s expecting a kitschy candy dish, at worst a beloved taxidermied pet, so when Cassie-newly divorced, single mom with zero prospects-discovers she’s inheriting a fully stocked bakery along with a beautifully furnished apartment from a great aunt she’d never even heard of, she’s convinced she must be dreaming.
A fun, low-stakes tale with an undercurrent of hope and a dash of magic, this was a lovely book to curl up with on a rainy and otherwise blue sort of day.
Dragon Bone Ridge
In a world where dreams weave reality and dragons present unyielding demands, Maribelle finds herself entangled in an extraordinary quest that could unravel her very sanity.
Dragons can be so demanding at times, even those stuck in stone.
A damsel rescuing a dragon? What more do I need to say. Definitely fun!

I prefer Dust Bunnies to Dragons. Jayne Castle has a series set sometime in the future in another place where people are psychic and there are Dust Bunnies. Not that I dislike Dragons.
