Books and Chocolate-October 2023
What more does a girl need than a pile of books and a bowl of chocolate? Let’s talk about what we’ve been reading and feeding our inner chocoholics.
Since it is the ‘spooky season, how about chatting about books with a spookier vibe?
Just so you know, links below are Amazon associate links, so if you buy anything through them, I will get a couple of pennies from that.
The Vine Witch
A young witch emerges from a curse to find her world upended in this gripping fantasy set in turn-of-the-century France.
After breaking the spell that confined her to the shallows of a marshland and weakened her magic, Elena is struggling to return to her former life. But the vineyard she was destined to inherit is now in the possession of a handsome stranger.
With a great period atmosphere and an over all spooky air, this makes a great read for the season. Not especially scary or gorey (those aren’t my personal cuppa) the story is intriguing and different. Even better, its one that I will definitely remember.
A Darker Shade of Magic
Unofficially, Kell is a smuggler, servicing people willing to pay for even the smallest glimpses of a world they’ll never see. It’s a defiant hobby with dangerous consequences, which Kell is now seeing firsthand.
Able to travel between alternate versions of London, dubbed red, grey, and white, Kell officially serves as an ambassador between red and grey. It’s his side gig smuggling that leads him and his new found companion astray.
With an intriguing and complex magic system and a classic fantasy vibe, the twists and turns of this tale will hold you through the final pages.
