Day 24- 30 Days of Gratitude — 4 Comments

  1. As I have aged my sense of smell has diminished so I don’t really smell much. I do like the smell of the fresh air out-of-doors when I am able to take a walk outside. Happy Thanksgiving.

  2. As I’m just recovering from my own bout with Covid, I’m grateful to smell at all. It was really weird waking up in the middle of the night & realizing… Can I smell anything. When my wife wafted a bottle of pure peppermint under my nose & I was unable to identify it, I figured it was time to go get tested. For about 4 days, I couldn’t smell anything & my taste was limited to sweet & salty. Chocolate? Nope. Peanut Butter? Nope. Cinnamon? Nope.
Still a little diminished a week and half later, but fortunately recovered enough for me to enjoy Thanksgiving. A couple of my kids though are going to have a somewhat tasteless thanksgiving though. 🙁

  3. The smell of coffee and chocolate cannot be beat. Certain coffees smell better than they taste, alas. But don’t get me wrong I have to have that ginormous mug full everyday to get moving. But the smell that sends me into some joyous atmosphere is the humble little lemon, particularly lemon zest. And my hands after I’ve zested, juiced or sliced one. I use a lot here at our house, but not often enough that I ever tire of that fresh beautiful smell. Limes come in second.

Tomorrow’s turkey dinner smells are a unique category of their own since they come only once a year, and I’m looking forward to that. We have so much to be thankful for every year, but this year is unique for all of us I think. ‘Thank God we’re healthy, thank God our friends and family are COVID free.’ And everyone we know are thankful for one more holiday with a loved one who is fading because life and death aren’t giving us a break just because this worldwide pandemic has taken hold of us all in one way or another. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Maria. And to all of those commenting on your blog this week. God Bless.

  4. I’m right up there with everyone and the smell of coffee. But I think baking bread is way up there too. I love walking into a coffee bar and just smelling the wonderful aromas. I love walking near the Barnes and Noble coffee bar. Starbucks and Panera send my senses into overload. Yeah, I love the smell of pastries and coffee. Don’t even get me started on donuts like Krispy Kreme… OMG! Blessings everyone, enjoy the scents of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
