National Waffle Day — 2 Comments

  1. Well, now I must have waffles today. I was at a gathering but they used the frozen variety. I would only have them on hand for emergencies. However, nothing beats making them yourself. I never thought of having a waffle party. It sounds like it would be a lot of fun. Thanks or sharing this delicious post. [Okay, pun intended]

  2. May I recommend a book (Disclaimer: I edited it) called Dark Rye and Honey Cake by Regula Ysewijn, which gives a very thorough history of Belgian waffles (and lots of recipes)? After working on the book, I visited Belgium where I tried several of the different types of waffles, from the light and fluffy Brussels waffles to the dark and sugary Luikse wafel (and many other delicious baked goods). Not to mention stroopwafels!
