- Check out a brief history of waffles HERE.
You’re invited to a virtual Waffle Frolic! Come join the fun.
Waffle frolics were a thing in the mid 18th to mid 19th century. Basically you’d invite friends and family over to play games, eat food, and make waffles. Since it’s a little difficult to fit all of you in my kitchen, although I’d be happy to try, I thought I’d share our favorite waffle recipe with you and we could have a virtual frolic.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Bisquick
- 3 T. melted butter
- 12 oz. can of club soda (we like to use ginger ale, cream soda or lemon-lime soda)
- 1 large egg
- Pinch of cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions
Heat up waffle maker. Whisk all ingredients together. Spoon into waffle maker. Makes 4 large belgium style waffles.
I like to serve these with fruit, so I also made up a batch of cinnamon apples. This was the final result.
YUM! We invited our middle son (part of our support bubble) over to enjoy our little frolic. I made a double batch of waffles and still had nothing left!
We always use beer in our waffles instead of ginger ale/club soda, although I will suggest that to Joe the next time ‘we’ (he) makes them.
I’m telling you, these waffle posts are making me hungry. I may break down and make some. LOL! Thanks for sharing… I think. Blessings, stay safe, and healthy.
As I am diabetic, waffles are too many carbs for me…sadly.
