Books and Chocolate-Dec 2022
What more does a girl need than a pile of books and a bowl of chocolate? Let’s talk about what we’ve been reading and feeding our inner chocoholics.
I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately. Real life has been … real, very, very real and it’s been hard to find something engrossing enough to take me away from all that as it were.
Happily I’ve just run across a couple books which are helping me out of the slump, just in time to share them for the holidays.
Just so you know, links below are Amazon associate links, so if you buy anything through them, I will get a couple of pennies from that.
The Trouble with Tinsel
This is a little Christmas novella from the Space Janitor series. Yes, I know, I know, Space Janitor, really? What can I say, I’m a sucker for unique situations, and this one is really unique. Trianna hates Christmas tinsel because it jams the cleaning bots. Trying to get them fixed leads to interesting characters and situations that end with the feels of a Hallmark Christmas movie.
Not serious, but fun, definitely fun. And I needed fun. If you do too, check this one out.
Keeper of Enchanted Rooms
You may have read my review of Paper Magician by Charlie Holmberg. In short, she’s crafted another winner in this one.
Hulda Larkin works for the Boston Institue for the Keeping of Enchanted Rooms. Poor Merrit Fernsby has just inherited an enchanted house with all the attitude of a hormonal teenager. Just when things appear to be getting sorted out, they discover the house’s secrets are far deeper and more dangerous than anyone could have anticipated.
Fresh, with fun characters in a beautifully fleshed out gaslamp fantasy setting, I’ve already got the second book on my wishlist.
