Fine Eyes and Pert Opinions
In which the author pushes the boundaries a mite too far…
I’ve always been one to take creative risks. All my Austenesque stories push against convenetion and expectation. Sometimes it works really well and then there are other times. Personally, I really, really like this story, but some found it was a step too far from convenetion.
I give you…
Fine Eyes and Pert Opinions.
Darcy is at his wits end.
As guardian to his younger sister, he wants her to become a properly accomplished woman–she is coming out soon, after all. But Georgiana steadfastly refuses despite the encouragement of Elizabeth Bennet, long time Darcy family friend. Darcy invites a few guests to Pemberley in the hopes of encouraging Georgiana’s improvement with a taste of society.
Unexpected additions to the party prove dangerously distracting, leaving the Darcy family on the brink of disaster. Elizabeth holds the key to their restoration, but she has fled Pemberley, unable to tolerate another day in the Darcys’ company.
Will Darcy relinquish his pride and prejudice to seek out a woman below his notice before his family is irreparably ruined?
I somewhat remember this story, but it has been some time since I have read it. The guests left something to be desired!
I really, really liked this story. Some of the guests were not good company, but that happens at times when people invite themselves….the nerve, but a good host would not turn the away, unfortunately. And Darcy is always the consummate host ..
This was an amazing story. The Bennet family dynamics were totally different and it completely worked. I felt for Georgiana and Elizabeth was so strong for both Darcy’s. Fitzwilliam [our Colonel] should have his head examined in inviting extras to his cousin’s house. It was a formula for disaster. Bet he doesn’t do that again. Loved it.
