Day 20- 30 Days of Gratitude
Gratitude #20 What about your home are you grateful for?
Bear with me friends, I know this is an odd one. What about my home am I most grateful for? I would have to say our staircase.
Why? It seems a very odd thing to be grateful for. It is often inconvenient and frequently an obstacle. What is so significant about it?
Well, for reasons I don’t quite understand, this spot, just about in the center of our home, has become a gathering point, rather like a piece of furniture that draws people to it. I have so many group pictures of the family taken here.
Perhaps even more significant, many important conversations have happened here. So many, that “Come sit on the stairs” means, ‘I need to talk with you, mom.’ While some of those conversations have been difficult, I am grateful that my kids want to talk to me and have a special place to do just that.
Having grown up in a house without central heating (fireplace and electric heater in bathroom) until I was in 4th grade and, of course, without A/C I am thankful for both now.
I am grateful that though it is just a tiny apartment, it is safe and cozy!
