Reason # 15 Why writing takes so long
August is a great month of a vacation, and who better to take a vacation with than a feline friend?
This month I’ll be celebrating my feline writing buddies with cat stories, writerly cats, cat histories and a tatzelwurm or two thrown in for the fun of it.
#15 High Rise Going up Next Door
I wouldn’t say that I have to have things entirely silent while I’m writing, but a certain amount of peace and quiet is really appreciated. Unfortunately, the neighbors don’t always agree.
I’m pretty sure the HOA around here has some regulations about high rises, but these guys are definitely ignoring them. Last time I checked two stories was the max around here.
I tried to talk to them, but is anyone surprised to hear that they totally ignored me? In fact, they thought I was unreasonable. Seriously, how could they possibly be expected to share a floor with another cat? They could barely fit on a single floor as it was. In fact, if I were a considerate neighbor, I would insist upon increasing the size of their high rise condo, not decreasing it.
Though I steeled myself for my new neighbors, I wasn’t ready for the wild parties they started throwing. Seriously, pole dancing? This used to be a respectable neighborhood. I warned them there would be consequences. They dared me to call the authorities.
I didn’t have to.
One night, they were partying away with a spectacular pole dance, and before my eyes, their entire condo came crashing down. In a weird sort of slow motion effect, it slowly fell, giving all the occupants time to jump ship before it crumbled.
One would think that would be enough to ensure they were done with high rises ever after—but no. Not two days later, they were complaining to the management, wondering when their high rise would be rebuilt.
Naturally.
How delightful. I love these reasons. .. stories.
