Jefferson’s Multitool
Thanks to Robin who shared this link in the comments of Not Your Father’s Multitool.
Apparently, Thomas Jefferson owned a multitool, purchased between 1767 and 1819.
The most likely origin for the multitool was Sheffield cutlery as it is very similar to an illustration in one of the manufacturers pattern books from 1816. All of which places such a gizmo in reach of the characters of Dragon Keeper’s Cotillion!

Thomas Jefferson is a character in another Fantasy series I’m narrating! – Mountain Folk is book 1 & the series is set to cover American History from Revolutionary days to the end of WWII. And… Like the Blue Order, there are only certain humans who have the capacity to perceive the myth folk (like Jefferson for example). Currently about 1/3rd of the way through recording book 1. The author (John Hood) is also obviously a research aficionado like yourself. Looking forward to reading Dragon Keeper’s Cotillion to see how else the hoity-toity can be put in their place by dragons. 🙂
Well done on your research. You find the coolest things… and, you share with us. Thanks…
