Down the Research Rabbit Hole: Grog
While writing Dragon Beyond the Pale, the research rabbit hole led me to grog.
Why do you think I went there and what could it have to do with dragons?

How about the dragon getting to like grog too much and doing things while in his cups?
That’s a fun idea. We already know that April does not do well with too much alcohol and that Walker holds his drink very well…
Well, aren’t you teasing us. Let’s see… it has to involve a ship full of men and or dragons. Barbara has already mentioned a dragon who might like his grog too much. Or a dragon who falls into a vat of grog. LA! I am certainly looking forward to reading what you have done. I love the rabbit holes you have taken so far. Well done on finding these videos. There were several naval pictures that went with this last video that really made it stand out. Maybe you have a rum run planned in your story.
On a side note: of course, this happened back in the early 50s… my father told the story of a man who enjoyed his beer. Instead of taking water out to the fields for his workers, he took a tub of iced down beer. I know… today that sounds horrid but that’s what he did. He thought it appropriate because that’s what he wanted. I was reminded of it when I saw your video clip. I like that guy and his videos. He certainly brings history to us.
That’s a great story! Thanks for sharing it!
I just LOVE the Townsend’s work; they always have such interesting information!
I am a big fan of Townsend too!
