Research Rabbit Hole: Hard Tack
While writing Dragon Beyond the Pale, the research rabbit hole led me to hard tack or ships biscuits. Why do you think I went there and what could it have to do with dragons?

Dragons at sea? Or maybe it’s a substitute for lembas bread, and dragons are going to Mordor? 🙂
Mordor would be an interesting destination! What a mash-up that would be. Austen and Tolkien!
I am not good at guessing but am looking forward to reading your new story.
Thanks, Sheila!
Interesting story about the biscuits ? Perhaps the ? ? ? ate them?
Perhaps…someone does eat them…
Well…..,it’s really crunchy if your teeth are hard enough
Definitely!
I’m sure you are going to tell us in the story. There will probably be a ship… possibly Wentworth’s ship? Then someone will need to eat the hardtack or bisket. Perhaps, dragons enjoy eating hardtack. LOL! I can’t wait to see what you have done. Thanks for sharing the cooking video with us. I do so love his commentary. Blessings, stay safe, and healthy.
I love these videos too. He’s such fun to listen to!
Without having read any excerpts yet of the new book (I’m on the fence about doing that!) I’m think perhaps the hard tack will have to do with Wentworth’s continued service in The Order. And with the proximity to the sea that his and Anne’s estate with their dragon Kellynch. That’s what I came up with. We knew in the last chapter of book 6 that agreeing to stay in service would likely cause some intrigue and danger. I am so excited for the new book!!
Interesting theories! I’m looking forward to launching this one too!
