Day 11- 30 Days of Gratitude
Gratitude #11 What kindness did you give someone today?
Every now and again, we just need a little kindness. Today was my middle son’s day.
He called, late afternoon, asking what I was making for dinner, hoping to come engage in some human company and a good excuse to stop working (from home) for a while. We had been planning to order take out, but shifted to popping into the grocery for take-n-bake pizza instead, since that would be easier all around.
Just as I got the pizzas in the oven, he called with the news that he had just been ‘voluntold’ for an already scheduled work task that meant he would not make it for dinner.
Sigh.
It was tempting to dwell on the hassle we’d already been through to accommodate him. But, it really was out of his control. As the newest guy on the team, such things were his lot. We’ve all been in spots like that.
So, I invited him to come over when he was available, we could heat up the leftover pizza and hang out. That’s what we did, enjoying pizza around the kitchen island and a lovely conversation in my sitting room where we knocked around some new book plots.
Then I sent him home with half a leftover pizza so he wouldn’t have to cook when work got frantic again. All told, it was a lovely evening.
My husband got locked out of his computer (He is illiterate on his PC.) so I helped him unlock it.
