Christmas 1811: Cover Reveal and a Vote!

It probably comes as no surprise, I love the holiday season.  This year has been a doozy and just managed to throw one more unexpected wrench at us–a huge as in ‘what in the world do you do with THAT’ sized wrench–which is all the more reason to find some way to really celebrate the season. And what better way than to celebrate with a new Christmas book? Well, how about two?

Yep, this year absolutely calls for not just one Christmas book, but two! And here’s a peek at the first: Darcy and Elizabeth: Christmas 1811. Have you ever wondered what happened after Darcy disappeared with Bingley to London, leaving the Bennets with the militia in Meryton? Take a peek behind the scenes on what might have happened to our beloved characters during the last Christmastide before Darcy and Elizabeth married.

The cover is ALMOST ready, but I need some input from you guys.  What do you think? The cover with Darcy on the left or on the right?  Let me know what you think in the comments!

If you’d like a peek inside, take a look at  Crossed in Love which  started posting last week. It is Elizabeth’s half of the story–my (early) Christmas gift to you.

I really like the one of Darcy on the right as I look at the picture – because I can see more of the door fittings and it looks more to me as if Darcy is giving one last lingering look before heading off

I prefer the one on the right. It is the same cover, but with things flipped. To me it just is more appealing. I can’t wait to get these books. Merry Christmas to me!

Definitely the one on the right.

  1. Darcy on the right has a better balance somehow.

Darcy on the left, with his head under his name.

Darcy on the right… like Catherine said… the balance seems better. Darcy is the stronger character and we are automatically drawn to him. The left cover seems to emphasize Elizabeth, while the right cover places the emphasis or our interest on Darcy. Yep… place him on the right. Blessings!!

Yes, I am with the majority – Darcy on the right. Thanks for your “gift”. I haven’t read it yet but will do so.

The one on the left makes me think he is looking at her as “mmm, yummy”, while the one on the right makes me think, “hmmm, wonder what she wants from me, better run while I can”.

They are both lovely, but for some reason I do think the one on the right is a tiny bit better. By the way, there is a typo in the sub-title: “happened” should be “happened”.

I didn’t notice that the system actually corrected the original typo as I typed it! “HAPPEND” should be “HAPPENED”. if it gets corrected again – the original word is missing the second “E”.

    1. thanks for catching that! Hadn’t finished proofing the covers yet!

I think Darcy on the left is better. With that arrangement, the names above match up with the placement of the people below.

I like Elizabeth on the left because although I love Mr. Darcy, I think Elizabeth the main protagonist and sinse we read left to right having her on the left brings our eyes to her first. The subtitle in the lower left is equally clear with either costume as background.

The cover on the left. I like the look of Darcy. Elizabeth’s dress is weird (sort of Disney princess rather than Regency).

    Darcy on the right.

  2. Darcy on the left. That should almost make it even, LOL!!

I noticed that the final “e” is missing on “Happened” in the cover description. 🙂

    Warmly,
    Susanne 🙂
