Rising Waters: Hide from the wind, run from the water — 10 Comments

  1. Oh my goodness… Bless Your Heart. I have absolutely NO idea how I would have acted, reacted or survived. Everything you have done and the plans that you made… and executed… simply are not in my wheelhouse. I admire you for your courage in the face of danger and your kindness to those that sought refuge in your home. I do so admire you and all the people in Houston that faced this monumental disaster. I hope writing this has been cathartic for you and I feel so blessed that you have chosen to share this with us. I thank you. Blessings to you and yours.

    • Thanks, JW. There’s still so much to be done. So many businesses were lost, it is almost a daily reminder, not to mention the homes surrounding us that are still under construction. Although it is not in the news anymore, it is still very much a part of our day to day existence.

  2. My heart goes out to you and all the others in the same, worse or even just a little better off. At least you had all accounted for…it seems. Thanks for sharing.

  3. And yet – look at Puerto Rico. It is so bad there and I wonder how much will be standing or repaired in a year…if even then. My girlfriend has family there and she tells me how just having a light at night is so desired.

  4. Goodness!! I do not envy you!! At least when we’ve evacuated for fires, there hasn’t been rain pouring down or water to slog through!

Thanks for sharing your experiences with us!

    Warmly,
    Susanne 🙂

  5. Oh Maria I just can’t imagine all that you went through (although I understand a lot more from your posts ?)
I must say it’s lucky you restrained yourself from using that pillow while your husband slept, I mean think how many more cats and dogs you would have had to deal with without his help?
Seriously I am so impressed with your organisational skills and I know I could never have coped so well. I hope and pray you never ever have to go through this again.
