  1. There are also those nonverbal gestures and signals that are also considered cursing. Just look at the Italians as portrayed in movies …they use gestures and signals with abandon. I was in Mexico and nearly stepped in front of a car and the subsequent series of toots on the horn had me smiling and waving back at them. The friends I was visiting crumbled in laughter and explained just what the particular series of toots meant. It had something to do with my mother; however, they wouldn’t say any more…just continued to laugh. I was also cautioned about how I used my hands. In a different unrelated situation a gang member shot at a person because he was throwing gang signals…turns out he was deaf and was communicating with his friend via [ASL] sign language. You need to be wise when out and about. Thanks for this delightful post.
