Writing Superheroes: Hunter Jones

Nice to everyone, this superhero is always on time. Read on and find out more…

If you were to write the ‘origin’s episode’ of your writing what would be the most important scenes? What did your early efforts look like? Are they still around to be used as bribes and blackmail material?

If the early stuff was found, it would be like a time capsule for 1980s-early 1990s indie rock bands. No bribery charges or blackmail would be necessary, it’s all good.

All super heroes have their mild-mannered secret identity, what is yours? I promise we won’t tell.

My mild-mannered secret identity? It would have to be me when writing. I’m so active that it is agony to sit and write. I have to make myself sit down and finish.the.chapter. It’s easy to make it up, but torture to write it down, isn’t it?320014_2954172031410_438911027_n

Who are your partners in crime? What are their superpowers?

Partners in crime? They have asked to remain anonymous, hence their superpowers must be that of invisibility.

Where do you get your superpowers from?

My superpowers emanate from the center of the place where all superpowers derive. I have no idea where it is. But, I do know that I have always had a fun imagination.

Where is your secret lair and what does it look like?

The secret lair is a room overlooking Crescent Street in Atlanta.

What kind of training do you do to keep your superpowers in world saving form? How do you insure they are used only for good?

You have to think positively and overlook the negative. It’s difficult to do but it does work.

Granted, you probably don’t’ get to wear your superhero costume a lot, but if you did, what would it look like?

It is being revamped by Chanel, but it’s gold, red and has a cape. The rest is a secret. Thank you for asking.

What is your kryptonite? What are the biggest challenges faced with in your writing?

I can’t sit still! A terrible trait for an author to have.

What was the supervillian that threatened to stop your latest project and how did you vanquish it?

Time is the my biggest foe, followed by his evil sidekick, the time waster known as social media.

What important lessons have you learned along the way?

Whew, now this is a question with many answers. The old adage ‘Learn something new every day’ still holds true, especially for an overly curious author.

What have been the best/most memorable experiences along the way?

I have meet some of the kindest, most talented people I have ever known.

What is the best (writing or otherwise) advice you have ever gotten and why.

Be nice to everyone and always be on time. It’s the key to the universe. As for writing, the best advice is, to quote Mark Twain…“Substitute ‘damn’ every time you’re inclined to write ‘very;’ your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be.”

Tell us about you new book and why we need to drop everything and get it now.

My latest is PHOENIX RISING, a story of the last hour of Anne Boleyn’s life, told through the contemporary descendant of King Henry VIII’s physician. It’s based on the astrology chart which the physician created for the king. Yes, that’s what physicians did at that point in time, they worked with astrology to pinpoint events and even illnesses. The book is published via MadeGlobal Publishing and I cannot praise them enough. Their team is fantastic to work with. Here’s the blurb for PHOENIX RISING:

The last hour of Anne Boleyn’s life…

Court intrigue, revenge and all the secrets of the last hour are revealed as one queen falls and another rises to take her place on destiny’s stage.

A young Anne Boleyn arrives at the court of King Henry VIII. She is to be presented at the Shrovetide pageant, le Château Vert. The young and ambitious Anne has no idea that a chance encounter before the pageant will lead to her capturing the heart of the king. What begins as a distraction becomes his obsession and leads to her destruction.

Love, hate, loyalty and betrayal come together in a single dramatic moment… the execution of a queen. The history of England will be changed for ever.

What’s in store for you in the future? Do you have any other big projects on the horizon?

Currently I’m finishing another historical fiction story. The new one is set in the U.S. following the Civil War; Reconstruction era Chattanooga, Tennessee, to be exact. It’s different, but that’s all I can say about it at this time. I am super excited about it.

Thank you so much for featuring me today!
